Parenting in recent years has been informed more by cultural trends than biblical standards. As our culture has emphasized subjectivism, placing the individual at the center of knowledge, emotions have become the arbiter of authority. This has led to tragic consequences. This sermon focuses on the biblical purpose and methods for parenting. Focusing on Hebrews 12, we learn principles of discipline, instruction, and the long-term effects of parenting.

The concept of “gentle parenting” has become a norm among Millennial parents. The method avoids discipline for fear of harming the children or breaking their spirits. The result is anxious parents and narcissistic children who are themselves anxious and unclear of their purpose. Pastor Daniel’s sermon from Hebrews 12 addresses the value of biblical discipline in contrast to cultural trends in parenting. Need parenting advice? This is for you.
