Can I Help?

We pray daily for God to bring people along to help make disciples (Luke 10:2).  We need as much help as we can get.  However, don't expect church as usual.  We have designed Restoration to reach people who haven't started following Jesus yet and are not being reached by any other church.  Reaching people who haven't been reached with the usual methods means using unusual methods.  So, there are a few things you should know about us before you get involved.

  • We are more focussed on planting many churches than on having a big church.  You get more meat breeding rabbits than elephants, says David Browning.  So, we are looking to make disciples, equip leaders, and plant as many churches as we can to reach as many people as we can.  We operate lean and we keep things simple to make disciples as best we can.
  • We may never have a building.  There is a good chance we will have a building (or many buildings) someday.  However, we have a strong focus on growing through groups.  So, don't come looking for "the next big thing."
  • We are looking for holistic restoration, not just education.  We care as much about emotional health as we do biblical knowledge.  Relational health and servanthood are just as important to us as doctrinal integrity.
  • Christian consumerism doesn't fit here.  If you are leaving your current church because you don't like the teaching style or the music, then please go back.  We are a group of people who have risked our friendships and livelihood to make disciples.  We are passionate about meeting the needs of both Christians and non-Christians.  You will find rest for your weariness and bandages for your broken heart, but you will not be coddled here.  You will be expected to join in the fight and make disciples with us.

How Can I Help?

We have 3 primary environments at Restoration and need help with all of them:

  • Corporate Gatherings in houses and other buildings.  We are small now, but these meetings are where we come together in larger numbers for corporate teaching, worship, and prayer.  Needs include:
    • Children's ministers.
    • Shepherds/teachers/preachers
    • Worship leaders (of all kinds, not just music)
    • Connectors (people to build relationships with lost people)
  • House Churches (Simple Churches) in houses, coffee shops, bars, restaurants, etc.  These groups are where we build deeper relationships in smaller settings to support each other and follow Jesus together.  Needs include:
    • Hosts (people to host meetings)
    • Facilitators (people to lead discussion)
    • Connectors (people to build relationships with lost people)
  • Individual discipleship.  This is when one follower of Jesus invests in 1-3 others to help them become like Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).   They are always important, but are especially important for new believers to be involved in.
    • Disciple-makers (people to invest in 1-3 others.  Every Jesus follower at Restoration needs to be ready to disciple another person.  We will equip you to disciple.

How Can I Get Equipped?

We will equip you to make disciples in your home, workplace, coffee shop, bar, etc.  The first step is to start following Jesus with us or attend our Learn to Make Disciples class.  However, we also have House to House (our house church leader training) and other equipping workshops.  Watch our Upcoming Events Page for more information.

How Can I Give?

We work to run things as lean and simple as possible.  However, ministry still costs money.  If you would like to make a donation, you can give online.  Also, checks can be mailed to the Central District Office 1231 High Street Wadsworth, OH 44281-9421.  Make checks to "Restoration Church of the C&MA."

How Can I Pray?

Prayer is more important than anything else you can do.  We have  Prayer Partner email that goes out about twice a month.  If you would like to be added to that prayer list, let us know by filling out our contact form.
